Full System Backup

For computers running Windows XP and Vista we have an option for a full system backup. A full system backup provides all the same benefits as our data only backup plans but in addition includes a feature called "iHeal". iHeal allows you to restore your entire computer back to a previous backup point. iHeal is different from a Windows System Restore since all files on the computer are being backed up. While Windows System Restore can be useful for certain operating system problems, iHeal is much more flexible and can be used to fix a variety of issues such as:
  • Viruses
  • Corrupted files
  • Failed software installations
  • Hard Drive Failure

How iHeal Works

When you initiate the iHeal process you first pick the backup point to restore your system. You can choose to heal the entire computer or just system and applications leaving your data intact. iHeal then compares the current state of your system to the backup point and restores the differences. This process can be done online through the agent software or through the use of backup DVD’s which can be ordered for your account.

While iHeal can be used to correct a variety of issues, it is not designed to restore your programs to a new computer or hardware or to a different version of Windows. In this case it is normally best to reinstall your applications and then use BackUp Solutions to restore your data files only. This ensures that everything is running optimally.
