LiveVault offers different delivery mechanisms for restoring customer data. Most customer restore requests are performed via the secure Internet connection. With “Delta Restore”, LiveVault just restores the pieces of files that are different - significantly reducing the time to recover from corruption events. When restoring whole files (i.e. when not restoring an older version of an existing file), a customer can expect to restore a GB of data every 90 minutes for each mb/s of bandwidth they have (i.e. a customer with 3 GB can expect to restore about 3 GB in 270 minutes).
Many variables play roles in determining the actual length of restoring a given amount of data. LiveVault offers media restores (NAS) for customers who need to restore a large amount of data and/or are in a real or test recovery process. LiveVault describes more details in our SLA. For customers using the TurboRestore appliance, restore times are significantly reduced in most cases. Combining the appliance with Delta Restore, customers are able to get disk-to-disk speed restores over their LAN while only moving the absolute minimal amount of data! In almost any circumstance, this will be MUCH faster than restoring from tape - especially if the tape needs to be brought back from off-site.
